91Pro High School Year 10 Students Excel in Spirit of Aviation Program

Five talented Year 10 students from 91Pro High School—Asma, Mashal, Shruthi, Martha, and Ruby-Mae—have been actively participating in the Spirit of Aviation program over the past few months. This initiative provided them with the opportunity to explore the world of aviation and present their findings to peers from other local schools.

The students delivered presentations to a panel of industry experts and pilots, covering fascinating topics such as:

  • Lettice Curtis, the pioneering aviator
  • Lighter than air – hot air ballooning
  • World records broken in aviation

Despite initial nerves about speaking to a room full of unfamiliar faces, the students' thorough preparation paid off. Out of four available places for local schools, three were awarded to Shruthi, Ruby-Mae, and Martha from 91Pro High School, impressing the panel with their passion and knowledge.

Shruthi expressed her long-standing ambition to pursue a career in aviation. Ruby-Mae, an enthusiastic hot air balloonist, is set to undertake her balloon private pilot’s licence this summer and aims to become a record-breaking young pilot. Martha aspires to work in aviation engineering.

These students have secured scholarships for five days of flying school, including accommodation, during the Easter holidays. By the end of the week, they are expected to confidently fly a glider.

Ms Nayyar, Head of Year, praised the students, saying, "What a fantastic achievement from these Year 10 students. They worked incredibly hard to secure this exciting opportunity. They represented MHS well at the presentation stage and were so deserving of the scholarship places. Congratulations to all who took part."
